RIP OR CRUNCH
Most think the universe will Rip,
some few think Crunch.
Dark Energy is gaining grip.
It’s most unlikely things will flip.
Gravity’s always lacked the punch
to stop the matter expanding,
but whether it goes crunch or rip,
there’s no such thing
as a free lunch.
Many should recognize this as an updated parody of Robert Frost’s poem “Fire and Ice:”
Fire and Ice
Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I’ve tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.
RIP OR CRUNCH
Most think the universe will Rip,
some few think Crunch.
Dark Energy is gaining grip.
It’s most unlikely things will flip.
Gravity’s always lacked the punch
to stop the matter expanding,
but whether it goes crunch or rip,
there’s no such thing
as a free lunch.
