Dark Energy is the other component that constitutes the universe. It seems to be a product of space itself, and over great distances can act to reverse the effects of gravity, driving objects away from each other. No one knows what Dark Energy is, but based on it’s effects upon distant galaxies, and its even greater effects upon further distant galaxies, we can calculate that this unknown force we call Dark Energy makes up an amount approximately three quarters of the stuff that actually composes the universe (and the stuff we used to think was everything in the universe, makes up only five percent).
My haiku on this topic is a double entendre to having a negative attitude, or dark energy, and how this repulsively counteracts attractiveness.
